On April 21, 1979, Brisbane's historic Belle Vue Hotel was demolished.
Over the ensuing forty years a treasured small fragment of the hotel has been carried around the bars of the city, old and new, in a celebratory Pub Crawl. Over-indulgent perhaps, but good natured fun, with participants numbering in the hundreds over the years. Eventually, it became a charity fund-raiser. This is an uncertain history of that annual event.
